Switching window check

Can I switch yet?

Upload your latest business electricity bill. Meet George reads it in seconds and tells you whether you're in your switching window and what to do next.

Your full result appears here - no email required.

We don't store your bill file. How we use your bill

We keep limited information extracted from your bill - such as your contract dates, rates and usage - and a protected meter reference for 13 months. After that, we keep only anonymous figures. If the name on your bill shows it's a registered company, we also keep its public Companies House record: its name, company number and industry code. The business name and postcode printed on your bill are deleted within 2 days unless you ask us to contact you or create an account.

Your bill is processed by third-party services acting on our behalf.

What George reads

Your bill already knows when you can switch

The answer is in the small print. George finds the four things that decide it, so you don't have to dig through pages of charges.

  1. 1

    Your tariff

Fixed, variable or deemed. Each one changes what you can do, and when.

  2. 2

    Your contract end date

Your switching window is counted back from it. If your bill doesn't show it, George asks you one question instead of guessing.

  3. 3

    What you pay

Your unit rate and standing charge, printed on your result so you have them to hand when you compare.

  4. 4

    Your usage and meter

Over 100,000 kWh a year, or a half-hourly meter? A person from our team takes it from there.

The switching window

When can a business switch electricity supplier?

On a fixed contract, you can agree your next one before the current one ends. We recommend doing it in the 6 months before your end date. Leave it too late and you land on out-of-contract rates.

Contract running

Too early to switch

George tells you the date your window opens, and can email you when it does.

Out-of-contract rates

You can leave them any time, with no exit fee. Switch as soon as you can.

  • The file isn't kept

Meet George doesn't keep the file you upload. An AI service reads it to pick out the facts your result rests on.

  • Only the facts we need

Supplier, tariff, dates, rates and usage. Your meter number is scrambled unless you ask our team to contact you.

  • No lookups behind your back

We don't check your meter with ElectraLink or any meter-data service. That only happens after you sign up and sign a letter of authority.

Questions about the bill check

Something else? Ask us.

Is the bill check really free?

Yes. There's no account to create, no email address to hand over and no sales call. Your result appears on this page as soon as George has read your bill.

Which bills can I check?

A recent business electricity bill, as a PDF or a photo (JPG, PNG or WEBP) up to 5 MB. We can't switch gas, or supplies in Northern Ireland, yet. A bill that covers gas and electricity together goes to our team.

What if my bill doesn't show when my contract ends?

George asks you one question - whether your contract has ended, or the month it ends - and answers straight away. If you don't know, our team can help you find out.

What is a switching window?

The months before your contract ends, when you can agree your next one. We recommend the 6 months before your end date, so a new contract is ready to start the day your current one finishes. It's our advice, not a rule.

Do I have to switch with Meet George?

No. The result is yours either way. If you're ready, you can continue to Meet George and compare contracts yourself, online.

How does Meet George make money?

A flat 1p/kWh fee, shown separately on every quote. You pay it, and your new supplier collects it over the life of the contract. It's our only charge.

Is this a quote?

No. The bill check tells you whether and when you can switch. Quotes come next, on Meet George, once you decide to go ahead.
