Our free bill check uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that an upload comes from a person rather than a bot. It protects the service from abuse, so it’s strictly necessary: it runs whether or not you accept optional cookies, and the bill check works with optional cookies declined. The accountant partner form uses Turnstile in the same way, to check that an application comes from a person.
The bill check keeps its reference to your check in the page’s memory only. It doesn’t save it on your device, and it doesn’t send your bill details, email address or check reference to our analytics tools. See The free bill check in our privacy policy for what we keep and for how long.
To show us how somebody reached the bill check, the website keeps a small first-arrival record in browser session storage for the current tab. It contains only the page path, time, external referrer host, campaign source and whether paid-click evidence was present; it never contains the click ID itself, your bill, the bill-check reference or anything that identifies you. The record is sent with a bill only if you choose to run the check.
If you accept statistics cookies, the earliest evidenced first arrival can also be kept in browser storage for up to 30 days, so a later bill check can still be attributed to the page or service that introduced you. Changing your statistics choice to declined removes that longer-lived record. With statistics declined, the first-arrival record is limited to the current tab.
The Meet George app at app.meetgeorge.co.uk follows the choice you make in this website’s cookie banner, and asks you itself if you haven’t made one. If you accept, it uses Google Analytics 4 to see which steps of a switch people complete, so we can make it better. It uses the same Google Analytics cookies as this website, so we can see a visit that starts here and continues in the app. It never sends your name, email address, phone number, address, meter numbers, account details, prices or usage. You can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings in the app.
When you make a choice in this website’s cookie banner, we also save it in a small cookie called mg_consent, which app.meetgeorge.co.uk can read too, so the app can follow the choice you made here. It holds only your yes or no for statistics and marketing cookies - nothing that identifies you - so it’s strictly necessary. It lasts 12 months, and it’s removed if your choice on this website is reset.
